Kelly Shimizu (Richmond, BC) finished 2-3 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shimizu lost 9-4 to Sarah Wark (Chilliwack, BC), then responded with a 13-7 win over Jill Winters (Nelson, BC). Shimizu went on to lose 9-4 against Patti Knezevic (Prince George, BC). Shimizu responded with a 8-6 win over Lori Olsen (Kamloops, BC). Shimizu went on to lose 9-1 against Kesa Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

Shimizu earned 0.713 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, dropping 2 spots on the World Ranking Standings into 216th place overall with 4.204 total points. Shimizu ranks 175th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.885 points earned so far this season.
