Shannon Birchard (Winnipeg, MB) won 5-4 over Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the MCT Championships, held December 8 - 10, 2017 at the East St. Paul Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Birchard won 6-5 over Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 MCT Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 7-4 over Barb Spencer (winnnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 MCT Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;

Birchard finished 2-2 in the 11-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birchard defeated Beth Peterson (Winnipeg, MB) 5-4, then went on to lose 7-2 against Robertson. Birchard lost 6-2 to Einarson where Birchard responded with a 5-2 win over Joelle Brown (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the MCT Championships Championship title, Birchard earned 25.647 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 29th place overall with 223.569 total points. Birchard ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 114.240 points earned so far this season.
