Sergio Vez (Donostia-San Sebastian, ESP) finished 6-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Vez defeated Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN) 8-6, then won 6-4 against Kevin Golberg (Jerusalem, ISR) and 8-6 against Gabor Riesz (Budapest, HUN). Vez went on to lose 9-4 against Karlis Smilga (Riga, LAT). Vez responded with a 8-6 win over Belgium's Timothy Verreycken. Vez won 9-6 against Andrew Woolston (Kent, ENG), then won 6-5 against Harri Lill (Tallinn, EST) in their final qualifying round match.

The berth into the first round of the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships playoffs earned Vez 11.400 world rankings points, moving up 61 spots the World Ranking Standings into 155th place overall with 24.813 total points. Vez ranks 148th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 11.400 points earned so far this season.
