To advance to the championship game, Krell won 7-1 over John Willsey (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2017 Brantford Nissan Mens Classic in Brantford, Ontario, Canada; and won 6-2 over Brent Ross (Harriston, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Brantford Nissan Mens Classic in Brantford, Ontario, Canada;
Krell finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Krell defeated Ryan Sayer (New Liskeard, ON) 7-2, then won 5-0 against Jon Solberg (Whiteshorse, YK) and 5-2 against Dayna Deruelle (Kingston, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Brantford Nissan Mens Classic Championship title, Krell earned 24.744 world rankings points along with the $5,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 51st place overall with 129.54 total points.
