Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC) finished 4-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Shiela Cowan (Surrey, BC) 8-7, then won 7-4 against Kesa Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC). Thompson went on to lose 6-4 against Kim Slattery (Vernon, BC). Thompson responded with a 8-1 win over Lori Olsen (Kamloops, BC). Thompson won 6-5 against Sarah Wark (Chilliwack, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the BC Scotties Open Event #1, Thompson take home 12.870 world rankings points. For week 18 of the event schedule, Thompson did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Thompson ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
