Zsolt Kiss (Budapest, HUN) finished 3-4 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kiss defeated Pavol Pitonak (Bratislava, SVK) 9-6, then went on to lose 10-3 against Ritvars Gulbis (Riga, LAT). Kiss lost 8-7 to Sergio Vez (Vitoria-Gasteiz, ESP) where Kiss responded with a 12-4 win over Ugurcan Karagoz (Erzurum, TUR). Kiss went on to lose 9-2 against Harri Lill (Tallinn, EST). Kiss responded with a 7-6 win over Eddy Mercier (Lyon, FRA). Kiss went on to lose 9-2 against David Sik (Prague, CZE) in their final qualifying round match.

Kiss earned 3.367 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 93 spots the World Ranking Standings into 314th place overall with 4.943 total points. Kiss ranks 237th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.943 points earned so far this season.
