To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 6-5 over Ryleigh Bakker (Calgary, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Curlers Corner Womens Junior Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta; and won 9-3 over Jessica Wytrychowski (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Curlers Corner Womens Junior Bonspiel in Calgary, Alberta;
 
Sturmay finished 2-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Kassidy Varga (Calgary, AB) 12-3, then won 6-3 against Veronica Maschmeyer (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
