Un-Chi Gim (Gyeonggi-do, KOR) qualified for the 2017 Karuizawa International playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Chiaki Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN).

Gim finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gim defeated Alina Paetz (Zurich, SUI) 7-1, then won 8-4 against Eve Muirhead (Perth , SCO) and 10-6 against Mayu Natsuizaka (Sapporo, JPN). Gim won 7-4 against Matsumura in their final qualifying round match.
