Symonds finished 6-2 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Symonds defeated Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) 8-6, then won 7-2 against Justin Lockyer (St. John's, NL) and 10-9 against Paul Harvey (St. John's, NL). Symonds went on to lose 8-6 against Smith. Symonds responded with a 7-4 win over Trent Skanes (St. John's, NL). Symonds went on to lose 7-5 against Boland. Symonds responded with a 5-3 win over Frank O'Driscoll (St. John's, NL). Symonds won 7-5 against Dave Thomas (Port aux Basques, NL) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard, Symonds take home 3.713 world rankings points, moving up 311 spots the World Ranking Standings into 402nd place overall with 3.713 total points.
