Chris Gardner (Buckingham, QC) lost 6-3 to Jean-Sebastien Roy (Chicoutimi, QC) in the Final of the NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel, held September 28 - October 1, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Gardner won 6-0 over Mark Homan (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2017 NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel in Ottawa, Ontario; and won 5-4 over Chadd Vandermade (Ottawa, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel in Ottawa, Ontario;

Gardner finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gardner defeated Jason LaMontagne (Ottawa, ON) 6-1, then won 6-4 against Catherine Derick (Buckingham, QC) and 11-7 against Rhys Allen (Manotick, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel, Gardner take home 11.219 world rankings points along with the $1,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 70th place overall with 54.931 total points. Gardner ranks 61st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 11.730 points earned so far this season.
