Gardner finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gardner defeated Jason LaMontagne (Ottawa, ON) 6-1, then won 6-4 against Catherine Derick (Buckingham, QC) and 11-7 against Rhys Allen (Manotick, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
