To advance to the championship game, Martin won 7-6 over John Steski (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2017 Moosehead Classic Open in Ottawa, Ontario; and won 9-4 over Stephen Watson (Ottawa, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Moosehead Classic Open in Ottawa, Ontario;
Martin finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Martin defeated Spencer Richmond (Carp, ON) 7-5, then went on to lose 7-4 against Ted Butler (Buckingham, QC). Martin responded with a 8-1 win over Denis Letendre (Trois-Rivieres, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Moosehead Classic Open Championship title, Martin earned 8.284 world rankings points along with the $1,600CDN first prize cheque. For week 9 of the event schedule, Martin did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Martin ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
