Yves Hess (Zug, SUI) qualified for the 2018 German Masters playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-2 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO).

Hess finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hess defeated Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) 6-4, then went on to lose 6-4 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Hess responded with a 8-5 win over Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE). Hess won 7-6 against Kristian Lindstroem (Lit, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Hess earned 13.624 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the German Masters, moving up 16 spots the World Ranking Standings into 106th place overall with 56.964 total points. Hess ranks 111th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 28.374 points earned so far this season.
