Elena Stern (Wetzikon, SUI) lost 5-3 to Daniela Jentsch (F�ssen, GER) in the Final of the Latvia International Challenger, held October 26 - 29, 2017 in Riga, Latvia. 
 
Stern finished 3-1 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern lost 7-5 to Alina Pavlyuchik (Minsk, BLR), then responded with a 9-5 win over Angelina Jensen (Hvidovre, DEN). Stern won 9-4 against Lisa Farnell (Tunbridge Wells, ENG), then won 6-1 against Madara Bremane (Riga, LAT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Latvia International Challenger, Stern take home 11.196 world rankings points along with the $1,189CDN prize, moving up 15 spots the World Ranking Standings into 91st place overall with 38.485 total points. Stern ranks 94th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 12.179 points earned so far this season.
