Zou finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Zou defeated Thomas Usselman (Edmonton, AB) 6-5, then won 8-2 against Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB) and 6-4 against Mike Hutchings (Morinville, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
