Koivula finished 4-1 in the 22-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koivula defeated Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) 6-3, then won 6-5 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN). Koivula went on to lose 5-3 against Bob Leclair (Tempe, AZ). Koivula responded with a 7-1 win over Cameron Rittenour (Sioux Falls, SD). Koivula won 7-2 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Koivula earned 9.974 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the St. Paul Cash Spiel. For week 9 of the event schedule, Koivula did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Koivula ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
