Jamie Birtwistle (Ottawa, ON) qualified for the 2017 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-5 against Sylvain Dicaire (Val d'Or, QC). of the 2017 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open in Buckingham, Quebec;

Birtwistle finished 3-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birtwistle defeated Sylvain Bellavance (Montreal, QC) 9-5, then won 6-5 against Adam Freilich (Jerusalem, ISR). Birtwistle went on to lose 10-5 against Greg Sleno (Montreal, QC). Birtwistle responded with a 8-4 win over Martin Patry (Buckingham, QC) in their final qualifying round match.

Birtwistle earned 6.305 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open, moving up 74 spots the World Ranking Standings into 204th place overall with 12.41 total points.
