Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 11-4 against Steffen Walstad (Oppdal, NOR). of the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Regina, Saskatchewan;

Simmons finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons lost 10-3 to John Epping (Toronto, ON), then responded with a 7-5 win over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Simmons won 11-1 against Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA), then won 9-2 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

Simmons earned 32.027 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, remaining in 15th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 228.262 total points. Simmons ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 52.109 points earned so far this season.
