Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO) finished 7-2 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Ally Fraser (Inverness, SCO) 6-1, then won 9-3 against Scott Hamilton (Glasgow, SCO). Smith went on to lose 7-5 against David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO). Smith responded with a 8-3 win over Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Smith won 3-2 against Grant Hardie (Dumfries, SCO), then won 7-1 against Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO) and 7-6 against Chay Telfer (Glasgow, SCO). Smith won 7-3 against Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO). Smith went on to lose 9-7 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

Smith earned 24.092 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Scottish Curling Championships. Smith move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 7.928 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 14th overall with 412.249 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Smith ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 283.750 points earned so far this season.
