Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO) finished 7-2 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Ally Fraser (Inverness, SCO) 6-1, then won 9-3 against Scott Hamilton (Glasgow, SCO). Smith went on to lose 7-5 against David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO). Smith responded with a 8-3 win over Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Smith won 3-2 against Grant Hardie (Dumfries, SCO), then won 7-1 against Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO) and 7-6 against Chay Telfer (Glasgow, SCO). Smith won 7-3 against Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO). Smith went on to lose 9-7 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.

Smith earned 24.092 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Scottish Curling Championships. Smith move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 7.928 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 14th overall with 412.249 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
