Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) won 10-5 over Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Japan Curling Championships, held January 30 - February 5, 2017 in Karuizawa, Japan.
 
Morozumi finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Morozumi defeated Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN) 7-5, then won 12-2 against Taisel Miura (Hokkaido, JPN) and 9-5 against Yuki Sawamukai (Hokkaido, JPN). Morozumi won 11-3 against Hiromitsu Fujinaka (Okayama, JPN), then won 9-3 against Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) and 12-3 against Shingo Usui (Sapporo, JPN). Morozumi went on to lose 7-6 against Abe. Morozumi responded with a 13-2 win over Kota Onodera (Hokkaido, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Japan Curling Championships Championship title, Morozumi earned 11.970 world rankings points, remaining in 33rd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 216.657 total points. Morozumi ranks 34th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 108.275 points earned so far this season.
