After advancing directly to the championship game, Sarah Mallais (Saint John, NB) lost 9-6 to Melissa Adams (Fredericton, NB) in the Final of the New Brunswick Scotties, held January 25 - 29, 2017 in Miramichi, New Brunswick.
 
Mallais finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mallais defeated Shaelyn Park (Moncton, NB) 9-7, then won 5-2 against Shannon Tatlock (Moncton, NB) and 8-2 against Justine Comeau (Fredericton, NB). Mallais went on to lose 6-5 against Adams. Mallais responded with a 6-4 win over Sylvie Robichaud (Moncton, NB). Mallais won 7-5 against Shelly Graham (Fredericton, NB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the New Brunswick Scotties, Mallais take home 5.363 world rankings points, moving up 22 spots the World Ranking Standings into 163rd place overall with 14.063 total points. Mallais ranks 162nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.989 points earned so far this season.
