After advancing directly to the championship game, Sarah Mallais (Saint John, NB) lost 9-6 to Melissa Adams (Fredericton, NB) in the Final of the New Brunswick Scotties, held January 25 - 29, 2017 in Miramichi, New Brunswick.

Mallais finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mallais defeated Shaelyn Park (Moncton, NB) 9-7, then won 5-2 against Shannon Tatlock (Moncton, NB) and 8-2 against Justine Comeau (Fredericton, NB). Mallais went on to lose 6-5 against Adams. Mallais responded with a 6-4 win over Sylvie Robichaud (Moncton, NB). Mallais won 7-5 against Shelly Graham (Fredericton, NB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the New Brunswick Scotties, Mallais take home 5.363 world rankings points, moving up 22 spots the World Ranking Standings into 163rd place overall with 14.063 total points.
