Veronica Smith (Charlottetown, PEI) run at the 2017 PEI Scotties came to an end in the semifinals with a 7-5 loss to Robyn MacPhee (Charlottetown, PEI). of the 2017 PEI Scotties in Summerside, Prince Edward Island;
Smith finished 4-2 in the 4-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith lost 7-4 to Lisa Jackson (Charlottetown, PEI), then responded with a 8-3 win over Tammy Dewar (Montague, PEI). Smith won 9-2 against Jackson. Smith went on to lose 7-6 against MacPhee. Smith responded with a 5-4 win over Jackson. Smith won 8-4 against MacPhee in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the PEI Scotties, Smith take home 3.300 world rankings points. For week 23 of the event schedule, Smith did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Smith ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
