Melissa Runing (Mankato, MN) qualified for the 2017 USA Junior Womens National Championship playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-4 against Madison Bear (Blaine, MN). of the 2017 USA Junior Womens National Championship in Fargo, North Dakota;

Runing finished 4-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Runing lost 6-5 to Emily Quello (Bemidji, MN), then responded with a 7-4 win over Susan Dudt (Philadephia, PA). Runing won 8-4 against Elizabeth Cousins (Medfield, MA). Runing went on to lose 8-1 against Annmarie Dubberstein (Blaine, MN). Runing lost 6-1 to Bear where Runing responded with a 10-3 win over Beth Podoll (Fargo-Moorhead, ND). Runing won 7-4 against Ariel Traxler (Fairbanks, AK) in their final qualifying round match.

Runing earned 7.268 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the USA Junior Womens National Championship. For week 23 of the event schedule, Runing did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Runing ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
