Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR) finished 5-6 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) 9-6, then went on to lose 6-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). Walstad responded with a 8-3 win over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Walstad went on to lose 8-6 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Walstad responded with a 5-3 win over Alexey Stukalskiy (Moscow, RUS). Walstad went on to lose 9-3 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Walstad lost 9-7 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Walstad lost 7-6 to Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) where Walstad responded with a 8-7 win over Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER). Walstad won 7-5 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Walstad went on to lose 8-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

Walstad earned 12.968 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 34 of the event schedule, Walstad did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Walstad ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
