Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN) finished 7-1 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Liu defeated Viktor Kim (Almaty, KAZ) 7-2, then won 7-5 against Ian Palangio (Sydney, AUS) and 7-4 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Liu went on to lose 6-4 against SooHyuk Kim (Gangwon, KOR). Liu responded with a 10-5 win over Hong Kong's Jason Chang. Liu won 6-4 against Randie Shen (Taipei, TPE), then won 10-2 against Abdulrahman Nabil (Doha, QA) and 7-3 against Peter De Boer (Naseby, NZ) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Pacific-Asia Curling Championships, Liu take home 15.675 world rankings points. For week 13 of the event schedule, Liu did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Liu ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
