Yves Hess (Zurich, SUI) finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hess defeated Antonio De Mollinedo (San Sebastian, ESP) 8-5, then won 7-3 against Switzerland's Marco Hoesli and 7-4 against Michal Zdenka (Prague, CZE) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Thompson Curling Challenge, Hess take home 9.430 world rankings points along with the $2,919CDN prize, moving up 30 spots the World Ranking Standings into 132nd place overall with 25.425 total points. Hess ranks 72nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 13.817 points earned so far this season.
