Melville went on to lose 8-0 against Hunter Clawson (Duluth, MN). Melville lost 8-3 to Greg Persinger (Fairbanks, AK) where Melville responded with a 6-5 win over Darrick Kizlyk (Denver, CO). Melville went on to lose 7-4 against Greg Wilson (Chicago, IL). Melville lost 5-3 to Fred Maxie (Seattle, WA) where Melville responded with a 7-2 win over Sidney Schroeder (Houghton, MI). Melville won 8-5 against Todd Ussatis (Bismarck, ND) in their final qualifying round match.
