To advance to the championship game, MacKenzie won 9-6 over Mike Callaghan (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2016 Spitfire Arms Cash Spiel in Windsor, Nova Scotia; and won 6-4 over Trevor Archibald (Halifax, NS) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Spitfire Arms Cash Spiel in Windsor, Nova Scotia;
 
MacKenzie finished 2-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacKenzie defeated Nick Hilton (Halifax, NS) 1-0, then won 5-4 against Brent MacDougall (Halfiax, NS). MacKenzie went on to lose 7-2 against Tony Moore (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Spitfire Arms Cash Spiel Championship title, MacKenzie earned 9.592 world rankings points along with the $1,200CDN first prize cheque, moving up 35 spots the World Ranking Standings into 168th place overall with 23.603 total points. MacKenzie ranks 166th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 9.592 points earned so far this season.
