To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 8-1 over Ashton Simard (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Whitney Field Jr. Women's Curling Classic in Lloydminister, Alberta; and won 5-3 over Jessica Mitchell (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Whitney Field Jr. Women's Curling Classic in Lloydminister, Alberta;
 
Sturmay finished 3-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Brett Day (Red Deer, AB) 8-4, then won 7-4 against Ashley Thevenot (Saskatoon, SK) and 6-4 against Veronica Maschmeyer (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
