Jason Jacobson (Saskatoon, SK) lost 6-5 to Brad Heidt (Kerrobert, SK) in the Final of the Humboldt Cash Spiel, held December 9 - 11, 2016 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Jacobson won 6-2 over Carl deConinck Smith (Saskatoon, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan; and won 6-1 over Daniel Selke (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan;

Jacobson finished 4-1 in the 19-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobson defeated Selke 6-2, then went on to lose 3-2 against Heidt. Jacobson responded with a 6-1 win over Shawn Joyce (Saskatoon, SK). Jacobson won 7-2 against Jeff Hartung (Langenberg, SK), then won 4-1 against Ben Gamble (Moose Jaw, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Humboldt Cash Spiel, Jacobson take home 13.298 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN prize, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 56th place overall with 103.574 total points. Jacobson ranks 44th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 66.892 points earned so far this season.
