To advance to the championship game, Heidt won 5-4 over Bruce Korte (Saskatoon , SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan; and won 8-3 over Darren Camm (Regina, SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Humboldt Cash Spiel in Humboldt, Saskatchewan;
 
Heidt finished 4-1 in the 19-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Heidt defeated Brady Scharback (Saskatoon, SK) 5-4, then won 3-2 against Jacobson. Heidt went on to lose 7-2 against Dale Craig (Saskatoon, SK). Heidt responded with a 5-4 win over Drew Heidt (Kerrobert, SK). Heidt won 5-4 against Ryan Deis (Fox Valley, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Humboldt Cash Spiel Championship title, Heidt earned 16.925 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 50 spots the World Ranking Standings into 127th place overall with 38.769 total points. Heidt ranks 89th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 29.329 points earned so far this season.
