To advance to the championship game, Deis won 7-6 over Jason Ackerman (Regina, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 Highland Cash Spiel in Regina, Saskatchewan; and won 8-1 over Kody Hartung (Saskatoon , SK) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Highland Cash Spiel in Regina, Saskatchewan;
 
Deis finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Deis lost 8-4 to Ackerman, then responded with a 7-3 win over Ryan Sveinbjornson (Regina, SK). Deis won 6-3 against Jeff Hartung (Langenberg, SK), then won 7-6 against Randy Gilewich (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Highland Cash Spiel Championship title, Deis earned 14.398 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 24 spots the World Ranking Standings into 88th place overall with 50.753 total points. Deis ranks 78th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 21.789 points earned so far this season.
