Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) won 7-2 over Chadd Vandermade (Ottawa, ON) in the Final of the NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel, held September 29 - October 2, 2016 in Ottawa, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Balsdon won 5-0 over Samantha Peters (Ottawa, ON) in the semifinals of the 2016 NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel in Ottawa, Ontario; and won 7-5 over Bill Duck (Ottawa, ON) in the quarterfinals.

Balsdon finished 4-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balsdon defeated Dorothy Szymaszek (Schenectady, NY) 6-0, then won 9-1 against Thomas Lo (Montreal, QC) and 8-0 against Denis Carter (Cornwall, ON). Balsdon won 6-1 against Jennifer Harvey (Cornwall, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the NAVY Fall Classic Open Bonspiel Championship title, Balsdon earned 9.580 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 31st place overall with 131.428 total points. Balsdon ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 33.567 points earned so far this season.
