Kristen MacDiarmid (Dartmouth, NS) won 5-3 over Theresa Breen (Halifax, NS) in the Final of the New Scotland Clothing Ladies Cashspiel, held October 7 - 10, 2016 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. MacDiarmid finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacDiarmid defeated Christie Gamble (Halifax, NS) 7-6, then went on to lose 7-1 against Robyn MacPhee (Charlottetown, PEI). MacDiarmid responded with a 10-0 win over Lisa Moore (Halifax, NS). MacDiarmid won 4-2 against Mary Mattatall (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the New Scotland Clothing Ladies Cashspiel Championship title, MacDiarmid earned 20.038 world rankings points along with the $2,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 24 spots the World Ranking Standings into 81st place overall with 38.739 total points. MacDiarmid ranks 43rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 27.948 points earned so far this season.
