To advance to the championship game, Muntain won 4-3 over Daley Peters (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Man Curl Tour Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 3-2 over Dennis Bohn (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Man Curl Tour Classic in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Muntain finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muntain defeated Rob Atkins (Winnipeg, MB) 8-7, then won 5-4 against Tian Yu Zhang (Harbin, CHN). Muntain went on to lose 6-2 against David Bohn (Winnipeg, MB). Muntain responded with a 6-5 win over Peters in their final qualifying round match.
