In their opening game, Gim defeated Lene Nielsen (Hvidovre, DEN) 5-3, then won 10-3 against Ami Enami (Karuizawa, JPN) and 10-3 against Tori Koana (Yamanashi, JPN). Gim won 7-4 against Anna Sidorova (Moscow, RUS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Gim earned 41.773 world rankings points along with the $11,311CDN first prize cheque, moving up 11 spots the World Ranking Standings into 31st place overall with 178.811 total points. Gim ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 106.857 points earned so far this season.
