Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) lost 7-2 to Sean Murray (Pittsburgh, PA) in the Final of the Kalamazoo Classic, held October 15 - 16, 2016 at the Kalamazoo Curling Club in Kalamazoo, United States. To advance to the championship game, Sobering won 7-2 over Greg Eigner (Kalamazoo, MI) in the semifinals of the Kalamazoo Classic in Kalamazoo, Michigan, United States;

Sobering finished 2-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sobering defeated Stu Cohen (Columbus, OH) 6-1, then won 4-3 against Andrew McDonald (Midland, MI) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Kalamazoo Classic, Sobering take home 5.184 world rankings points along with the $928CDN prize, moving up 151 spots the World Ranking Standings into 279th place overall with 5.872 total points. Sobering ranks 142nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.184 points earned so far this season.
