To advance to the championship game, Higgs won 5-3 over Todd Birr (Blaine, USA) in the semifinals of the 2016 Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic in Sarnia, Ontario; and won 6-4 over Ontario's Codey Maus in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic in Sarnia, Ontario;
Higgs finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Higgs defeated Scott Bailey (Brampton, ON) 7-3, then won 6-5 against Craig Brown (Blaine, USA) and 7-3 against Birr in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Huron ReproGraphics Oil Heritage Classic, Higgs take home 25.745 world rankings points along with the $3,200CDN prize, moving up 15 spots the World Ranking Standings into 55th place overall with 88.169 total points.
