To advance to the championship game, Heggestad won 7-3 over Kelly Cochrane (Toronto, ON) in the semifinals of the 2016 CookstownCash presented by Comco Canada Inc in Cookstown, Ontario, Canada;
Heggestad finished 3-1 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Heggestad defeated Susan Froud (Innisfil, ON) 8-2, then won 8-5 against Lysa Johnson (St. Paul, USA). Heggestad went on to lose 5-4 against Brenda Holloway (Guelph, ON). Heggestad responded with a 13-1 win over Katie Moreau (Penetanguishene, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the CookstownCash presented by Comco Canada Inc Championship title, Heggestad earned 13.743 world rankings points along with the $2,260CDN first prize cheque, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 66th place overall with 67.931 total points. Heggestad ranks 25th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 60.786 points earned so far this season.
