In their opening game, Walsh defeated Tamera Hoffman (Indianapolis, IN) 8-0, then won 10-1 against Erin Archambeau (Cedar Rapids, IA) and 9-2 against Liana Knott (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX). Walsh won 12-0 against Alice Hartman (Roseville, CA), then won 13-6 against Jacki Temple (Pittsburgh, PA) in their final qualifying round match.
