Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR) won 6-3 over Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO) in the Final of the German Masters, held January 19 - 22, 2017 in Hamburg, Germany. To advance to the championship game, Walstad won 5-3 over Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) in the semifinals of the 2017 German Masters in Hamburg, Germany; and won 8-3 over Bruce Mouat (Stirlng, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 German Masters in Hamburg, Germany;
Walstad finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated Mouat 6-3, then won 5-4 against Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER) and 7-6 against Sebastian Wunderer (Kitzbuhel, AUT) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the German Masters Championship title, Walstad earned 44.421 world rankings points along with the $8,556CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 23rd place overall with 261.637 total points. Walstad ranks 18th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 171.960 points earned so far this season.
