Walstad finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated Mouat 6-3, then won 5-4 against Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER) and 7-6 against Sebastian Wunderer (Kitzbuhel, AUT) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the German Masters Championship title, Walstad earned 44.421 world rankings points along with the $8,556CDN first prize cheque, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 23rd place overall with 261.637 total points.
