Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO) lost 6-3 to Steffen Walstad (Oslo, NOR) in the Final of the German Masters, held January 19 - 22, 2017 in Hamburg, Germany. To advance to the championship game, Smith won 4-2 over Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS) in the semifinals of the 2017 German Masters in Hamburg, Germany; and won 6-4 over Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 German Masters in Hamburg, Germany;

Smith finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Michael Brunner (Gstaad, SUI) 6-4, then won 7-2 against Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN) and 7-4 against Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) in their final qualifying round match.
