To advance to the championship game, Dunstone won 6-4 over Adam Casey (Regina, SK) in the semifinals of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States; and won 6-4 over Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States;
Dunstone finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dunstone lost 6-5 to Mike Farbelow (St. Paul, MN), then responded with a 6-4 win over Cameron Rittenour (Sioux Falls, SD). Dunstone won 6-2 against Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, WA). Dunstone went on to lose 8-2 against Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN). Dunstone responded with a 6-2 win over Farbelow in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling Championship title, Dunstone earned 27.406 world rankings points along with the $6,722CDN first prize cheque. Dunstone move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 23.546 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 20th overall with 262.912 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Dunstone ranks 16th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 160.421 points earned so far this season.
