Hunter Clawson (Blaine, USA) qualified for the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-1 against Rui Liu (HARBIN, CHN). of the 2016 ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling in Blaine, Minnesota, United States;

Clawson finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Clawson lost 8-1 to Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN), then responded with a 6-5 win over Trevor Bonot (Thunder Bay, ON). Clawson won 6-3 against Arizona's Mike Siggins. Clawson went on to lose 5-3 against Minnesota's Todd Birr. Clawson responded with a 6-5 win over Fenson in their final qualifying round match.

Clawson earned 11.745 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling, moving up 32 spots the World Ranking Standings into 128th place overall with 39.112 total points.
