In their opening game, Northern Ontario's Doug Dean lost 9-3 to Alberta's Jack Smart, then responded with a 8-6 win over Quebec's Sebastien Boisvert. Northern Ontario's Doug Dean won 12-7 against Nova Scotia's Trendal Hubley-Bolivar, then won 7-4 against Manitoba's Mark Wherrett and 8-2 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Cecilia Carroll.
