Jeff Wright (Chicago, IL) finished 7-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wright defeated Michael Moore (Cleveland, OH) 7-4, then won 8-7 against David Pengilly (Bismarck, ND) and 7-3 against Jim Smoltz (Beaverton, OR). Wright won 10-7 against John Shoesmith (Seattle, WA), then won 8-7 against Bill Stopera (Ardsley, NY) and 7-1 against Gert Messing (Ardsley, NY). Wright went on to lose 7-6 against Darrick Kizlyk (Denver, CO). Wright responded with a 8-3 win over Irvin Mossberger (Superior, WI). Wright went on to lose 6-3 against Aaron Nunberg (St. Paul, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
