Michael Vilenius (Stocksund, SWE) qualified for the 2016 Swedish National Championship playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 9-8 against Marcus Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE). of the 2016 Swedish National Championship in Pitea, Sweden;

Vilenius finished 3-2 in the 14-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Vilenius lost 6-5 to Hasselborg, then responded with a 8-7 win over Erik Janze (Umea, SWE). Vilenius won 7-6 against Bert Andersson (Uppsala, SWE). Vilenius went on to lose 7-4 against Jon Melin (Skelleftea, SWE). Vilenius responded with a 9-1 win over Rickard Hallstrom (Ostersund, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Vilenius earned 10.535 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Swedish National Championship, moving up 259 spots the World Ranking Standings into 239th place overall with 11.015 total points. Vilenius ranks 195th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.535 points earned so far this season.
