Gushue finished 5-0 in the 6-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Adam Boland (St. John's, NL) 9-2, then won 11-1 against Matthew Hunt (St. John's, NL) and 9-4 against Andrew Symonds (St. John's, NL). Gushue won 8-1 against Rick Rowsell (St. John's, NL), then won 8-5 against Thomas in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Newfoundland & Labrador Tankard Championship title, Gushue earned 7.245 world rankings points. For week 24 of the event schedule, Gushue did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 2nd place on the World Ranking Standings with 850.363 total points. Gushue ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 468.463 points earned so far this season.
