Josh Vanderburg (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) lost 6-3 to Tanner Horgan (Copper Cliff, NONT) in the Final of the Northern Ontario Junior Men, held January 2 - 5, 2016 in Kakabeka Falls, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Vanderburg won 11-2 over Nicholas Lemieux (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) in the semifinals of the 2016 Northern Ontario Junior Men in Kakabeka Falls, Ontario;
 
Vanderburg finished 4-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Vanderburg defeated Aaron Souliere (Thessalon, NONT) 9-3, then won 9-3 against Connor Mangoff (Thunder Bay, ON). Vanderburg went on to lose 6-5 against Matt Roberts (Kakabeka Falls, NONT). Vanderburg responded with a 13-4 win over Lemieux. Vanderburg went on to lose 10-8 against Ian Fudge (Thunder Bay, NONT). Vanderburg lost 10-4 to Horgan where Vanderburg responded with a 6-4 win over Zach Warkentin (Keewatin, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
