Aku Kauste (Helsinki, FIN) finished 5-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kauste lost 8-6 to Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED), then responded with a 7-3 win over Joel Retornaz (Turin, ITA). Kauste went on to lose 9-3 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Kauste responded with a 8-4 win over Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER). Kauste won 9-5 against Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI). Kauste went on to lose 7-3 against Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO). Kauste lost 8-7 to Alexey Stukalskiy (Moscow, RUS) where Kauste responded with a 10-4 win over David Sik (Prague, CZE). Kauste won 7-5 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Kauste earned 16.585 world rankings points for their Top 4 finish in the Le Gruyere European Curling Championships, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 28th place overall with 131.852 total points. Kauste ranks 68th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 37.292 points earned so far this season.
