Korte finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Korte lost 7-5 to Ray Sharp (Yorkton, SK), then responded with a 7-4 win over Shane Vollman (Regina, SK). Korte won 7-3 against Dean Kleiter (Saskatoon, SK), then won 5-2 against Darren Camm (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
